Red Light Therapy After a Workout

You just finished a hard session—ARX, lifting, a long run. What next? A growing number of athletes and busy trainees in Miami add red light therapy after a workout. Here’s why, when to do it, and how to fit it into your routine.

Why use red light after training?

Training stresses muscle and connective tissue. Recovery is when adaptation happens. Red light therapy after a workout is used to support that process. The idea: red and near-infrared light reach tissue and may improve blood flow, reduce inflammation, and support cellular repair. You’re not replacing sleep or nutrition. You’re adding a tool that fits in the window right after you train. No extra effort. You lie there. The lights do the work.

When to do it: right after or later?

Most people do red light within an hour or two of training. Right after works. So does later the same day. There’s no single “perfect” window—consistency matters more than nailing the exact minute. At our studio in Upper Buena Vista, clients often do ARX, then hop on the EnergyLounger for 20 minutes. Same visit. No second trip. That’s the appeal for busy professionals and parents from Coconut Grove, Key Biscayne, Coral Gables, Pinecrest, Miami Beach, and Surfside: strength and recovery in one block.

What to expect from a post-workout session

You’re already warm from training. You lie on the full-body bed. Lights on. You rest. No movement, no stretching. Some people feel a bit more relaxed or less stiff afterward. Others notice the difference over a few sessions. Red light isn’t a magic bullet—it’s one piece of a recovery routine. Pair it with sleep, hydration, and decent nutrition and you’re giving your body what it needs.

How often?

A common approach: 2–3 red light sessions per week, often stacked with your hardest training days. If you train three times a week, doing red light after each session is a simple pattern. If you train more, you might use it after key sessions. The goal is sustainable. Don’t overthink it. Do it when it fits.

Red light plus other recovery

Red light after a workout pairs well with other modalities. At Uplifted we offer red light on the EnergyLounger, ARX for strength, and Shiftwave for nervous-system recovery. You can do ARX, then red light. Or red light, then Shiftwave. Or red light only. Having options under one roof makes it easier to show up. You’re not driving to a gym, then a spa, then home. One stop. That’s why recovery studios in Miami are drawing people who want efficiency—same day, same place.

Who it’s for

Anyone who trains and wants to support recovery. Athletes, weekend warriors, busy parents, executives who squeeze in morning sessions. Red light therapy after a workout doesn’t require a doctor’s note or a specific injury. You try it, see how you feel, and adjust. If you’re in Miami and want to add it to your routine, check out our red light therapy page and our services. We’re at 5026 NE 2nd Ave #303 in Upper Buena Vista. Book a session and see how it fits.
